WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUR DOG?

NINA ACHIEVES NEW TITLE
Beth White reports:  "I'm still reeling with excitement over Nina passing her Working Certificate Test October 7, 2012, in Monroe, NC sponsored by the Central Carolina Poodle Club.  She has turned out be ape-crazy about retrieving mallards!  We squeaked through the two land retrieves - great marking, great drive out, great pick up and return until about 30 feet from the line.  With a lot of hoop, holler and encouragement, I got her to FINALLY get both her ducks into the box.  Later in the day, she totally nailed both her water retrieves with picture perfect - absolutely awesome performance.  She won the crowd over and got a standing ovation!  I was so proud of my little girlfriend!  (She was the only mini competing at this event.)  The photo attached shows us with judges Stacy Overcash and Rich Louter (Louter Creek Hunting Poodles). Special thanks Carol Stone for being my training mentor, travel buddy, and friend and to hubby for tolerating all the dog stuff and helping me with all my practice ducks. (Our freezer will never be the same!"

SAD NEWS
September 25, 2012, Walter Sommerfelt reported:

"I just returned from a judging trip in the Ukraine and got in after midnight, when I woke up this morning I was checking the results and I saw where Steven's Daughter Jewell had ties the all-time Best in Show record over the weekend. I sent off a congratulations to Lisa and I received back a very tough e-mail telling me that Steven had passed away this weekend in his sleep and after autopsy was discovered he had died from Bone Cancer at the tender age of 7.

He had been at Lisa's the past few months as he was breeding several bitches and had been a very good sire for our breed. in 2010 he was the #2 hound sire all breeds and many of his children have been group winning/placing/and recently top ranked American Foxhounds. Carol and I were so looking forward to having back in November and exhibiting him in the Veteran's class at the National Specialty being held here in Knoxville.

Steven was a very special dog,  He was more than a wonderful and successful sire, and show dog, he was really "my friend" one of those special ones that you have the joy to own that just makes you so happy. I don't think Steven ever met anyone who just did not fall in love with him. He was "Mr. Personality" and we will miss him a great deal.

Thanks to Harry & Lisa for the opportunity to own this special friend but more importantly thanks to God, and all of you that were so supportive of him and his show career and mostly just "loved" him and helped develop that super personality.

This is not easy and I know we have all lost "special friends" but this one really hurts.

I just pray that he is waiting for me someday when I hopefully meet up with him again on the other side of the "rainbow bridge"

"Rest in Peace my dear friend."   Wally
