General Membership Meeting
April 16, 2013
The program was each member or couple answering a series of 10 questions about themselves so that each could get to know the other better.
The meeting convened at 8:15 PM. The attendance sheet of 25 members and 2 guests is with the minutes.
The minutes of the March 19, 2013 were approved as posted to the web site.
Corresponding Secretary – no report
Treasurer – Jean Dinkins reported that there was $67,615.92 in the club treasury between the checking account and the money market account.
President Wally Sommerfelt read a letter from AKC that indicated in 2012 those attending the 302 AKC sanctioned events in the state added 30.23 million dollars to the state’s economy.
TVKC’s 2013 Sportsman’s Award was presented to Catherine Bell.
Performance – Beth White reported that the Agility trials are on track. Obedience and agility classes are currently on-going.
Show – Carol Sommerfelt reported there was a minor glitch with judges that has been cleared up. At our Thursday show, since it is on Halloween we will be offering cash prizes for the Best Costumes with placements of 1-4. Everybody is encouraged to participate.
Trophies – Cheryl Kienast said she was sending an email to all members so they could support the trophies that they wanted.
Annual Awards Event – Barbara Byrum reported that the event will again this year be at Dead Horse Lake and it’ll follow the same procedure as in 2012.
Conformation Classes – Jan Flaherty and Keith Bailey talked about classes being held at the new UT facility. There is space for both conformation and obedience at the same time. Keith is seeking permission to use the facility constantly on a Monday or Wednesday evening.
Wally asked members to please tell him or any board member their idea for club programs.
He also asked for nominations for AKC’s Lifetime Achievement Awards. Neena Van Camp nominated Paula and Roger Hartinger. Jan Flaherty seconded and the motion carried.
The nominating committee’s report was read. There were no nominations for officer positions.
Carol Sommerfelt nominated Pat Hodges for Board of Directors. Pat accepted the nomination. There were no other nominations from the floor and nominations were closed. Club elections will take place May 21.
Membership applications for David Robinson and Janice Carter were read for the first time. Their 2nd reading and voting will occur May 21.
